Story Horse Farm, this name not only represents the fun, friendly, caring, and sup`portive community that Story Horse Farm wishes to foster, but is meaningful to Co-owner Charles Sanvik, and his family. His mother, Connie Sanvik, was an avid rider, and his children carry on the love of riding. It is this passion for horses and riding that led to the creation of Story Horse Farm. Charles and his daughters have a tie to Ireland through their late wife/mother who was Irish. Story Horse Farm was named to honor their Irish heritage. Also, Story Horse Farm imports horses from Ireland for lease and sale.

Equestrian Riding
What is the difference between hunter and jumper riding?
Hunters: Where the horse and rider jump a course and the judging is based on accuracy, grace, and elegance. Jumpers: the horse and rider memorize a course of jumps
and a jump-off course.
Hunters are judged subjectively, by a human. Judges place horse and rider pairs based on rider ability, horse ability, and style. Jumpers, however, are judged objectively, by a combination of time clock and faults. Riders need to hit or exceed the optimum time, with faults added to the round’s time. A jumper’s only job is to clear all the fences in the course as quickly as possible without incurring any faults. A horse incurs faults for each mistake made: four faults for each rail knocked down, four faults for every refusal, and 1 fault for every second over the maximum time allowed to negotiate the course.

Story horse trains horses to be calm around humans and riders, wear saddles, and avoid behaviors like rearing, kicking, and biting. Testimonials
Happy horses, friendly people
“We chose Story Horse Farm because they are a top tier hunter/jumper barn with an exceptional training facility and dedicated staff. We have been especially impressed with the high quality of personalized training provided by industry professionals. The entire Story Horse Farm team is committed to the highest level of care and development of the horses and riders. “
– Bethany Beaver
“I really enjoy and appreciate the beautiful, light-filled facility at Story Horse Farm. I’ve spent too many years in cold, dark barns. I also appreciate the hard-working, friendly staff. They have gone out of their way to keep me and the horse I lease, happy and comfortable. Although I am not a hunter/jumper, the trainers are well-versed in the important basics of classical riding and flat work which I need to practice dressage. I feel very fortunate to have ended up at this barn, with this staff, at this point in my riding career.”
– Sue McLeod
“Story Horse has everything we could ever ask for in a boarding facility including a dedicated barn manager to handle all of our horses needs. Kristi and Darcy have been amazing coaches for my daughter and helped her achieve the MHJA Year End Champion for her division last year. Their coaching is complementary and they do an excellent job of ensuring adequate coverage for both lessons and a variety of shows. “
– Amanda Gorra
